Ladder Writers was founded in August 2009 by Hannah Ellerby. The drive behind it was to offer those with a passion for creative writing competitions which provide critiques for every entry and a cash prize for the winners, while at the same time giving back and rewarding those writing the critiques and making a valuable contribution to the site. The idea is to provide writers a chance to develop both their creative writing and critiquing skills whilst providing an interesting and competitive way of developing and progressing through the site.

Hannah read English Literature and Creative Writing at Lancaster University and also works for a creative learning company based in Kent. She lives and creates Ladder Writers in the beautiful English city of Canterbury.

Hannah also plays violin in the acoustic folk punk band, Los Salvadores:
