
The main advantage of this site is that you can both make money and gain writing, critiquing, proofreading and editing experience as you rise up the ladder through writing critiques and helping to shortlist competitions. Here's a breakdown of how you can make money at each level and how many points you need to get to each level. Coloured text shows opportunities new to that level.

Normal members. No extra privileges.

Level 2 members can submit ideas for the site and competitions. If I use your idea you will receive the following:

Level 4 members get paid to shortlist competition entries.

Level 5 members can coach people with their contest entries. A Level 2+ Ladder Writer can pay extra when they enter contests to have a coach. You get paid £1 per member to coach them, and if they win the contest, you get £10 of the prize money!

Level 6 members can run their own contests! I provide the prize money, and you get paid 50p per entry!

Level 7 members act as proofreaders and editors. I can can send you lower level members' novels and short stories to you to critique. You get get paid more for everything.
